In this case report, we present a patient with primary amyloid myelopathy who presented featuring an unusual clinical scenario.
The individual's initial symptoms included marked proximal muscle weakness, along accompanied by bladder dysfunction. Analysis of cerebrospinal fluid revealed elevated protein levels suggesting amyloid deposits. Neuroimaging studies demonstrated characteristic lesions in the spinal cord consistent with primary amyloid myelopathy.
The management focused on supportive care, including physical therapy and medications to manage symptoms. Despite treatment, the patient's condition deteriorated significantly. This case emphasizes the importance of considering primary amyloid myelopathy in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with progressive neurological symptoms, particularly those with asymmetric limb involvement.
An Uncommon Presentation of Crohn's Disease: A Case Report
We describe a unusual case of Crohn's disease in a 35-year-old male presenting with uncharacteristic symptoms. The patient initially presented symptoms of nausea, which were misdiagnosed as a common gastrointestinalcondition. Further investigation revealed inflammatory bowel disease. The patient received standard treatment for Crohn's disease, including anti-inflammatory medications. The outcome to treatment was positive.
This case demonstrates the necessity of a thorough clinical evaluation in patients with suspected Crohn's disease, as its presentation can be heterogeneous.
Presentation
A male/female patient presented to the clinic with a chief complaint/history of symptoms/presenting concern of progressive shortness of breath, cough/dyspnea/respiratory distress. The patient reported a gradual/sudden/insidious onset of symptoms/complaints/manifestations, worsening over the past few months/year/decade. On physical examination, auscultation/palpation/inspection revealed decreased breath sounds in the lower/upper/bilateral lung fields.
Further/Additional/Supplementary investigations included a chest X-ray which demonstrated diffuse/patchy/interstitial opacities consistent with pulmonary fibrosis. A high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) scan of the chest confirmed the diagnosis, revealing honeycombing/fibrotic bands/reticular opacities.
The patient underwent further tests/evaluation/assessments to rule out other potential causes/contributing factors/underlying conditions of pulmonary fibrosis.
